Coach Chase Englestead

About me

When I was in high school I was lucky enouph to be part of 3 track state championsip teams where I competed and scored in the 800, 1600 and 3200.

I ran track and cross country for UVU where I specilized in the 1500 and 3000m steeplechase. At one time I held the indoor mile, the outdoor steeplechase and 1500 school records.

I started my coaching as a volenteer at UVU as their steeplechase coach. I then coach at Timberline Middle school in alpine until I got hired by Michael Hutchings and Michael Christensen to coach at Riverton in 2011.

How it all started

Running has been a great blessing to me. It gave me an opportunity to go to school and get a college degree at virtually no cost. Some of my greatest experiences and friedships have happened and been developed while participating in track and cross country. I feel that it has helped me become a better person in so may ways. I am grateful for the oppurtunity to be a coach and hopefully instill my love and passion for the sport to others.

I went to school in the little town of Panguitch, Utah. Because of the size of the school, you had an obligation to your school to participate in as many sports as possible. If you did not participate your school didn't have a team. During high school I participated in baseball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, golf, competitive weight lifting and track and field. I really enjoyed playing sports. I enjoyed being part of a team and challenging myself.

When I was a sophomore in high school my dad forced me to do track and field. I told him I didn't want to but he insisted and so I joined reluctantly. I will be forever grateful for my dad encouraging me to join.

I was very small in high school and felt like I worked hard in sports and was good enouph to play but because of my size I was often overlooked. My dad would always tell me, "Englesteads don't complain-we don't blame others. We try our best and what happens, happens."

I immediately fell in love with track and field because there was no POLITICS. The only person who determined my success was myself. If I failed it was on me, no one else. There was no COACH telling me I wasn't good enough and no REFEREES to blame. It was great. I worked hard and did stuff on my own and I saw immediate, quantifiable results. That is where I first fell in love with the sport of running.

Coach Adam Frampton

I ran Track and Cross Country all four years of high school going to three different high schools: Summit Academy, Washington High School in West Virginia and Riverton High School where I graduated from in 2016. Now I am working on my bachelors of science in kinesiology (exercise science) at the University of Utah and am planning on going to graduate school for Sports Psychology there as well. Sports Psychology has been an interest of mine since high school and I think it's one of the most important parts of running and the one that people struggle with the most. I want to help people with the psychological side of sports so they can accomplish their goals.

Janel is from Pocatello, ID where she ran XC & track for Highland High School. After high school, she went to Utah State University where she started to run half marathons & even a couple marathons. She got a degree in math education & was assigned to do her student teaching at Preston High School, which is where she started her coaching career. She helped out with their track team on the distance side.

After graduating from college, she got a job at Mountain Crest High School & coached XC & track there for two years before moving to Salt Lake & coaching at West Jordan High School for 2 1/2 years. She joined the coaching staff at Riverton High School in December of 2018 & has loved being here! She now teaches at Oquirrh Hills Middle School and is pursuing a masters degree in statistics from NC State.

The best part of coaching for her is getting to know the kids & helping them reach their goals. She loves watching them succeed on the track, as well as in life.
