Utah County Invite

Wow! What a wonderful race! Our time at the Utah County Invitational was great! Overall our girlsteam took third and our boys took fifth place. This race was nice and flat, which was a nice relief after our very hilly Highland race last week. Our kids are looking really good and are showing improvement, even if the times don’t always end up how the kids want. As we look back on the race we must keep in mind that the athlete’s times should average about 30-40 seconds slower than last week if their consistent. Most of them were about there and some were even better.

To highlight some outstanding performances for each race we start with the freshman/sophomore girls. Katie Christopherson led our girls pack with a great PR of 19:46. Not far behind her was Sam Jacobsen with a 20:16, which was awesome for her first X-country race as a freshman. Kara Johansen and Adyson

Edwards both performed really well also.

In the boys freshman/sophomore race we had some great races as well. I do not have the official times for these boys but there were two boy performances to highlight for sure. Justin Roylance and Mathew Parker had great races today that show strength and

consistency. We are really excited for our younger runners and the payoff that they’re getting for the hard work that they give.

In our Junior/Senior races these are the highlights for this week. We did have many strong performances and we are also very excited for these athletes. On the girl’s side we look to Kazia Glick and Rachel Rigby with another stellar performance in their races. Both girls placed in our top five girl times as well as in the top 20 in their race. Brittany Wahlin also needs to be mentioned for quite the strong performance within this same race. The girls are looking really strong!

On the boys side there was a great amount of synergy. These boys are truly running as a pack! We are so excited for them! Duncan Forrest becomes our first boy to be at the head of our pack more than once in races this year. This says a lot about how strong our team is and how well they are working together. Duncan finished with a 16:58 and less than 10 seconds behind him was Tyson Davis. These two boys worked side by side nearly the entire race! Very close behind them came Payton Ramynke and then a strong pack of four all within seconds of each other, Johnathan Roy, Craig Bluth, Levi Wolfley, Ammon Baker, and Brayden Robbins following close behind them. The span from Duncan to Ammon was just over 27 seconds. That is awesome!
