Taylorsville Jumps

he Taylorsville Invitational was a success for the RHS Track & Field team yesterday.

- First off congratulations to the Varsity Boys team for posting 4 point win over Herriman and Olympus

- Secondly a shout goes out to the abbreviated girls team for a fine 4th place finish with a very lean number of athletes

Silverwolves Jump Team is improving weekly as they pick up speed heading towards each athletes ultimate goal the 5A State Championship Meet at BYU on May 19 & 20, 2017.

Claiming first place hardware in the High Jump, with a PR leap of 6' 4" and securing his spot at second place on the Riverton High School "Wall Of Fame" was Senior, Dalton Mc Clees. Over the past two weeks

Dalton and the coaching staff agreed to "Take it one inch at a time" to get to his ultimate quest, the lone school record of 6' 6" which now looks realistic even coming of of knee surgery that was not 100% successful as Dalton still experience knee pain while competing. Hunter Gibbons also contributed to the total 60 point boys overall team win with a sixth place in the high jump competition. Hunter is also coming off recent injury but believes State qualifying at 6' 1" is obtainable as the seasons heads towards a close. Another State hopeful, Dallin Barnes agreed to eliminate distractions and give it that final push towards a 6' 1" season as well. Three RHS high jumpers in State competition in one year would be another first accomplishment.

In a stacked field of experience Long Jumpers first time senior Kaden Triplett rapidly proved his ability and desire to compete with the best of them leaving the earth with a 19' 1" leap good enough for a sixth place point gathering performance in his first ever Invitational competition, thankful to Coach Englestead for noticing his talent We look for big results from Kaden in the up coming Region 4 meet in the first part of May. He now joins Hunter Gibbons, Ethan Canfield and Hama Tuione a top of the Silverwolves young, talented Long Jump squad looking to place jumpers for a state qualifying performance.

With only two members of the girls jump squad in competition at Taylorsville Shambrea Ogden just missed the "Top Nine" jump - off competition leaping 13' 10 .75" while Emily Belnap gave it her all and finished one position out of the points scoring with a ninth in the high jump.

The Teams efforts are now set on the Deseret Peak Invitational in Stansbury Park, Utah on April 22.

Go Silverwolves!
