Westlake Grass Relays

Saturdays race was at Westlake High school. The course was two miles on the grass and periodically a group of hay bales where placed into the course. This is one of my favorite races to watch because of the unpredictability of the hay bales. Some athletes have it down to a science and it does't even appear that the hay bales are there while other athletes develop a intimate relationship with the hay bales as the trip over them due to fatigue or a miss calculated step. The varsity race is done in a relay format where each varsity athlete runs two miles then

passes it off to their teammate.

Sophomores boys continue their dominates by winning another race. Easton took 5th, Cole 15th, Spencer W. 17, and Isaac Garrard took 19th. Jaiden , Jackson, Ben J, Ben O. all ran really good races.

In the Freshman/Sophmore race McKenna, Anna, Hailey and Kylie all ran really good races and set new season personal best.

in the JV Girls I was super happy to see Jordan and Cami run really well. They hit a pace considerably faster than they have all season. Brynlee bounce back well from last week to run a really good time of 13:37. Sara Skinner had a really good race as well running her fastest race of the season.

JV Boys took 2nd behind AF. This was particularly competitive JV race because every team had 2 varsity runners in the race. Caleb Nokes took 6th only 6 seconds off the winner, Sean took 11, Chandler 12 and Blake took 13th. Brad Porter ran a really good race showing that he has a talent for the longer events. Paul and Niko both ran there best races of the season.

In the varsity race Ty Davis ran a big season best and took 15th overall with a 10:28. The girls varsity team took 10th overall with a very young team. I was really impressed with their grit and determination and I also love how close in ability they all are. This is particular dangerous because if they really start clicking they could go from a decent team to a really good team very easily.
