JUMPS AT DESERET PEAK

As the 2017 track & field season rapidly comes to a close we have finally sorted out the top Jump Team athletes in their respective events that will give what ever it takes to be

competitive and bring home those valuable point totals in the State Competition at BYU on May 19 & 20.

A shout goes out to the Standsbury Park jump team competitors that continue to place high in the competition week after week and this meet was no exception.

Dalton Mc Clees remained near the top of the class 5A leader board in High Jump competition with a second place performance while girls high jump produced Emily Belnap's PR jump of 4' 7",

a respectable 6th place point scoring effort and recording the highest girls jump for the 2017 season. Audrey Johnson just missed the elite top nine of the event placing tenth with a height of 4' 6".

Mean while the two boys that were in the Long Jump competition quietly did their job, Ethan Canfield 6th and Kayden Triplett 9th in a stacked field of 58, both qualified for the "Jump Off" of the top nine, great work gentlemen.

With Shambrea Ogden absent at his meet the coaches were hoping that one of the other four registered girls would step up and leap mid 14 foot sand mark to bring some depth the the roster, I guess we will have to wait till this Wednesday

@ Lone Peak for one of them to "Make Their Mark" in the sand.

The next Invitational is scheduled for his coming Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Davis High School an always extremely competitive event that will measure the athletes individual performances against the stellar competition that they will be up against at the State Championship competition. Coach Chelak has submitted his roster to Davis High and they will notify him of the excepted athletes by late Tuesday of this week coming.
