What a day! The afternoon was hot and the evening really warm and overall the athletes ran hard. Race by race we saw multiple PR's including even some false PR's from the girls Fresh/Soph race. :0) Overall there were some very exciting moments.

Beginning with our Fresh/Soph races we had a very exciting girls and boys race. In the girls race the most exciting and disappointing thing was the confusion on the course that led to three of our girls, along with many other front runners, to finish the race 800 meters before they should have finished. Katie Richards, realizing her error, jumped the fence by the finish line and continued to the finish. This provided Emily Bluth and Brynlee Bartlome with times below 19 minutes! I told them that this should be there goal by the end of Senior year. Sounds great! The girls did run hard even though the finish was unpleasant.

On the boys side we had many runners come out strong, even our biggest PR of the day. Boys came away with a 4th place finish led by Ty Davis, Joey Nokes, Talon Rodriguez, Taylor Rowser, and Robert O'Hara. A big congratulations goes out to Taylor for his spectacular performance to not only gave him his first top five finish on our fresh/soph team but also for his 1:05 PR! Other notable PR's for this race included Sean Rausch, Chandler Morgan, Mica Sims, Jacob Andrews, and Mitchell Newkirk. Well done boys!

Our JV boys and girls both came out confident and raring to go! Their excitement led them to a girls 4th place finish and a boys 2nd place finish. This was the first time that the girls JV this year was missing Brooklyn Dutton and Becca Chidester. Even without these two girls the JV proved their worth. Kayzia Glick and Breann Lang ran hard to claim their consecutive 11th and 12th spots in this competative race. Along with their performances came a lot of hard working girls as a whole. On the boys side we saw multiple PR's including 2 of our top five finishers, Tracen Warnick going sub 17 for the first time this year and Austin Diede going sub 18 for the first time. Tracen proved a lot during this race. He found himself in first place for a short portion and worked hard to gaur a top ten spot in 8th. Other notable performances that have obtained a new PR include Brady Allred, Carew Trickett, Noah Sorenson, Spencer Royce, and Joseph Broadhead.

Our varsity races allowed the boys and girls to run in slightly cooler temperatures. Both of our teams put up quite a fight that won the girls a 3rd place finish and the boys a 5th place finish. What a battle that these varsity teams put up against some strong competitors. On the girls side we saw some outstanding races that ended up with multiple PR's and improvements. Our top four girls, Kate Christopherson, Zoe Bartlome, Shambrea Ogden, and Kara Johansen, all found themselves below 20 minutes and in the top 24! Nice work ladies! Rounding off the to five scorers was Brookly Dutton who had a strong race with a nice PR breaking 21 minutes for the first time this year. Also setting a new PR in the top five were Zoe, Shambrea, and Kara! As a whole the entire team worked extremely hard and ran well. Great work girls! The boys race started at an extremely strong pace and our boys faught diligently for their fifth place finish. Our top five finishers for the boys also found themselves with many PR's and all sub 17 minutes. Our top finisher with a 16:14 was Duncan Forest who was quickly followed by our next four, Ethan Matz, Ammon Baker, Levi Wolfley, and Matthew Parker. Between Duncan and Matthew was a mere 18.6 seconds! What a phenomenal spread! These boys are working extremely well together and they are looking great! Jonathan Roy also had a notable run with his new PR for this year also with sub 17 time. Great work boys!!

We now look forward to an amazing race ahead of us at Park City next Friday! We'll see you there! :0)
