Pole Vault @ Davis Super Meet

With not ideal vaulting conditions expectations for the meet this week were not too high. I was pleasantly surprised and very pumped with how well both meets went. In order to make the meet go faster the first few heights went up by a foot each, which is a pretty big jump for the vault. On Tuesday, two of our three girls set new PRs. Katie Rollo cleared 6 feet (5'6" previous PR) and nearly had 7 feet. Olivia Powers cleared 7 feet (6'6" previous PR) and nearly qualified for state. Cassie Powers cleared 7 feet and came down on the bar at the state qualification height. On the boys side 3 out of 5 set a new PR. Craig Bluth set a two foot PR by jumping 10 feet. Seth Polevoi broke his PR by a foot and a half by jumping 10 feet as well. Tyler Smart broke his previous PR by 1'1" and was a half an inch away from tying the school record jumping 13'6" and taking second in the meet. Trent James and Braden Nielsen also cleared 10 feet. I am looking forward to this year and hoping that many more PR's are set.
