Sprinter Girls @ UVU Invitational

The UVU invitational turned out to be great meet. The weather was a bit chilly as the meet started but it quickly warmed up - leading to some awesome performances!

Gwyn Romrell and Shambrea Ogden both had solid races in the 100M hurdles. They both came back later in the day and raced the 300M Hurdles. Shambrea ran a season PR with a time of 50.00. Gwyn ran a huge PR with a time of 48.74. She improved on her previous PR by over a half a second.

The girls 100M dash was a good race. Kenzie McMcombs posted the fastest time for our Riverton girls with a time of 13.48. Kenzie also had the fastest time in the 200M with a time of 27.68.

The 4X100M relay team (Rylee Wood, Abbie Walker, Haylee Mather, Kenzie McCombs) finished third with a time of 50.91. The girls missed the State qualifying mark by .01 seconds.

Our two senior girls, Maci McCleary and Kate Saunders made their 2016 season debut at UVU. Both girls have been struggling with injuries this season; it was great to have them back on the track. Maci ran a 13.74 in the 100M and Kate ran a 28.43 in the 200M.

Rylee Wood and Haylee Mather both ran season PR’s in the 400M. Rylee ran a 1:02.05 and Haylee ran 1:02.78. Both girls were just barely off their all-time PR’s.

The Medley relay team of Rylee Wood, Kenzie McCombs, Haylee Mather and Katie Christopherson qualified for State! They took third place and ran a time of 4:22.87.

The girls finished out the meet with the 4X400M. The team of Shambrea Ogden, Sam Jacobson, Gwyn Romrell, and Rylee Wood ran a time of 4:18.90.

The girls had some great performance’s on Saturday; they can’t wait to get another shot at qualifying the 4X100 relay! Hopefully they make it happen at Taylorsville next weekend.
