Distance @ UVU

The Riverton Silverwolf Track and field team had a great showing at the UVU invitational. The boys won against a very competitive field.

Boys Highlights

This season has started out so strong and our distance team's hard work, consistency and dedication over the past few months is starting to manifest. In the boys 800 four boys ran great times and set personal bests. Ammon Baker 2:04, Matt Parker 2:01, Jonny Roy 1:57.94 – 4th all-time in school history and a state qualifying mark and Tracen Warnick 1:57.06 – 3rd all-time in school history and a state qualifying mark

In the boys 1600 Tracen Warnick and Ty Davis both had amazing races. Tracen took 3rd in a very competitive field running a 4:21 and becoming the 3rd fastest miler in school history. Ty Davis pushed down his own freshman record in the mile running a 4:45.

In the boys 3200 Austin Diede ran a very quick race hitting a 10:27 and running a 30 second personal best.

Girls Highlights

In the girl’s medley Katie Christoperson help qualify the girls team for state by running a 2:24 split in the 800 section of the race. It takes a very seasoned athlete to run a good time in a race like that. She was out running by herself and she kept a good even pace and ran a great time.

In the girls 1600 there was a whole bunch of personal bests set. Brooklyn Dutton, Ballie Spears, Kamryn Rossberg and Jessica Anderson all set personal bests.

In the 3200 both Kara Johansen and Breanne Lang ran great races setting big personal bests. Breann Lang ran about 1 minute faster than her previous personal best and about 2 minutes faster than what she did last year. Breanne has become a really dependable athlete and intelligent racer. She always finishes strong and sets herself up for a good race.
