Sprinter Boys @ UVU Invitational

The UVU invitational turned out to be great meet. The weather was a bit chilly as the meet started but it quickly warmed up - leading to some awesome performances! In fact, out of 30 teams competing, our men’s side won the meet.

All six of our sprinters ran PR’s in almost all of their events.

Austin Gomez qualified for State in both the 110M and 300M hurdles. He finished second place in both hurdles, running a time of 15.51 in the 110M hurdles and a time of 39.81 in the 300M Hurdles.

Andrew Glenn, Brant Hansen and Travis Mohney all ran a season PR in the 100M dash.

Andrew Glenn ran a new PR in the 400M with a time of 52.00.

Matt Parker had a huge PR in the 800M. He ran a time of 2:01.06; his previous PR was 2:05.57 from last year.

Isaac Mortensen and Travis Mohney both had great 200M races. Isaac ran a season PR 23.69 - just missing his all-time PR by .18. Travis improved his PR by a full second running a 24.17.

The relay teams were our strong point this weekend. Both our 4X100M and 4X400M relay teams qualified for state.

The 4X100M relay team of Isaac Mortensen, Austin Gomez, Brant Hansen, Andrew Glenn, finished third with a time of 43.49. The 4X400M relay team of Andrew Glenn, Isaac Mortensen, Matt Parker, and Austin Gomez, also finished third with a time of 3:28.99.

Overall UVU was a great meet for the sprinters and the team as a whole. We are excited to get back to training, work on a few things and see what next weekend brings.
