Jump Team Press Release – April 9, 2016
Immediate Release
Taylorsville Invitational
Another outstanding performance by the Riverton Silverwolves “Jump
Team” as rookie jumper Abbie Walker secured her position in the State
Championship meet at BYU in mid-May with a PR leap of 16’ 3.75”,
while placing third in today’s very talented field of sand markers at
Taylorsville. Abbie is very confident that she will stand alone the top of the record
board when she walks down the aisle for graduation at UVU in late May.
Colby Stone recorded another win in the High Jump competition
clearing 6’ 1” or better for the fifth time this season. Colby has set his
target at 6’ 4 “ marking his legacy for second in the event just one inch
behind Westin Ford’s school record of 6’5”.
Mitchell Wood continues to dominate the Long Jump fields as a come-
from-behind second place finish. A recorded PR leap of 20’ 8.75”
keeps Mitchell as the competitor to beat no matter where the
competition takes place. He vows to mark the sand at 21’ 8.75” before
he hangs up his jumping spikes. Mitchell’s ability to mark jumps of 20
foot plus at the last four competitions proves he is a true consistent
jumper with much more distance behind him.
Neal Guthrie came alive this past competition as Neal competed in
three events [High Jump, Long Jump, 400] recording a PR in the 400 as
well as leap of 18’ 10.50”, placing him sixth and scoring valuable points in
yet another Boys Team Victory. Neal was the second scoring
Silverwolves Long Jumper in this event.
“The Team” is headed to the Coaches Classic meet this coming
Saturday at Copper Hills.
